India 2026/P6 (Other Peoples Time )

From the sweltering pre-monsoon heat of New Delhi to the high altitude frontier region of Ladakh; from the hot trade-less traders in nearly 40° heat at the Red Fort and the furnace-like community kitchen of the Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.  From road to village to monastery, I wanted to find moments of both stillness and interaction, but ended up feeling disjointed amongst the everyday lives of others.

Being in such places and experiencing its culture, peoples and rhythms, and then attempting to fix these experiences as photographic images is a complex task.

As I age, I find myself less assured in the world, and these fleeting connections can both destabilised and mitigate against this - something that I am still exploring in my work. The look towards or away; a moment before or after; a focussed missed and other peoples time.  But when you make images, you are making an image of the world that’s largely about you.
