uneven projects: Parklands
We moved into Windsor Great Park in 2016, an island of time both physically and emotionally. I have spent more hours walking than making, moving away from sculpture and exploring the language of photography and digital printmaking in the Grasslands, Forests and Landscape series. During this time I left teaching and became a carer to my parents; Covid hit and Mum died. Dad developed Alzheimer's alongside chronic depression and died in 2024. I returned to teaching as an HPL in 2019, seeing the effects of Covid across both family & students, navigating the interconnected worlds of hospitals, caring and teaching.
In some ways these have been lost years, in others profoundly formative. I no longer have the ambition to fill cultural landfills, or the desire to publicly express 'extreme' authorship. Solvitur ambulando (it is solved by walking) is my guiding principle, and a point on which to end this series (December, 2025).
